Procrastination medication

Jeremy Ferris, a senior political science major, washed down an unprescribed 20 milligram extended-release Adderall with a swig of AMP energy drink. His French 104 exam was the next day, April 12, and hehadn't started studying yet. "I don't need [Adderall] to study," Ferris said.

SA Assembly names Kathan as new speaker

Melissa Kathan, a freshman accounting major, has been elected as the new Student Association Assembly speaker. All but two of the approximately 30 Assembly members in attendance voted for Kathan on Wednesday night, according to current Assembly Speaker Steven Jackson. Jackson conducted the election.

Presidential candidate concerned about pace of SA incorporation

Student Association presidential candidate Carson Ciggia is questioning the motives for and approach to incorporating SA. At a town-hall style information meeting in Norton Hall on Monday at 9 p.m., SA President Travis Nemmer pushed those who attended to encourage other students to vote in favor of incorporation.

Students question SA's approach to become not-for-profit

UB's Student Association is closer to becoming a not-for-profit organization following Wednesday night's Assembly meeting. Although the Assembly accepted SA President Travis Nemmer's motion to "support the SA in its continuing processes to reform itself as a not-for-profit corporation" with overwhelming support (20-1-4), the proposal was met with some criticism. Carson Ciggia, SA presidential candidate of the Forward Party, and his running mate, Christian Andzel, have questions regarding the proposal that would incorporate SA. "[Students] have no idea what this is," Andzel said.

A taste from around the world

In 2008, Piyush Bareria, a UB graduate student, proposed UB should provide a different kind of cooking class - specifically one in which students can express their individual cultures and personalities through their cooking. The Wellness Education Services agreed, funded the idea and the cultural cooking workshop was born. The workshop, held at South Lake Village community center, allows any participating student to lead a class and cook food that represents his or her background.
