A Friday evening with Morrie

Not many lessons discuss what it is to die. Friday night, the Niagara Regional Theatre Guild brought author Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie at the Ellicott Creek Playhouse to life in a staged play based onthe bestselling book. Two actors alone led the seven-scene play.

The Aqueous groove

Tucked away at the back of the bar, the main stage slowly woke up as musicians took their placesand plugged in their instruments. The dance pit was ready to erupt with an energy that had been absent in the early hours of the evening.

Silo City in photographs

It was still two hours from dawn's break as a lone car rolled into the gas station. The warm, dark air surrounded 49-year-old Thomas Bittner, associate professor of philosophy and geography at UB, who stepped out of his vehicle to get coffee. This was his morning ritual before heading off to photograph the ghostly remains of what was once Buffalo's life source - Silo City.

Buffalo museum honors the disabled

Crutches, wheelchairs and leg braces line the inside of a brick building. However, this building has no patients, and it doesn't exist to physically heal. It exists to educate. The Museum of disABILITY History, located at 3826 Main St., is the first of its kind - not just in America, but worldwide.

A UB dance reunion

The stage last saw them as eager young students. They returned as dance professionals and brought the experience that led them to success. At last Saturday's Back to Buffalo 4, An Alumni Dance Concert, eight former UB graduates returned to their alma mater to showcase their professional talents on Center for the Arts' stage. The most thrilling dance of the night belonged to Sarah Jean Kaye in "Bouchee." Her number began and ended while a hoopsuspended her approximately 3 feet above the stage floor.

Coming home to Buffalo

Art is not the only medium displayedin the lavender colored house at 140 Elmwood Ave. Coming Home Buffalo Center for Holistics and Arts is an art gallery that strives to make both artists and viewers feel at home, as art displayed is explored and appreciated. Venture deeper and one may find a massage table in a quiet and tranquil room.
