Art Imitates Life: Art and the JFK Assassination

This Nov. 22 marked the 40th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and it seemed to pass by college-aged Americans with minimal hype.This generation's college students cannot recall where they were when they heard the news; they would not even be born for another 20 years.

A resilient female doctor practices in the rugged fringes of the past. She struggles to raise her children in an inopportune environment and is faithfully protected by her lover.For all its faults, the resemblance of "The Missing" to "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" is only skin-deep.

Artists' Works Bend Rules of Art at Albright-Knox

Visual artwork is usually created with a common set of tools and techniques; when an artist ventures outside the traditional boundaries of method and skill, their work must be viewed in new ways, with new approaches to commentary and critique.An exhibit of such work, called "Materials, Metaphors, Narratives: Work by Six Contemporary Artists," opened this Saturday at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
