"Today In UB History: Feb. 28, 2005"

About a week after Sept. 11, while studying for an exam at night, Matt Cascarino received a phone call from the United States Air Force. It wasn't until two years later, after serving emergency active duty, that he was finally able to take his exam. Cascarino is one of an increasing number of UB students who have been called overseas to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Working your way around the gym

Jill Esposito, the aerobics and program director with the Buffalo Athletic Club on Niagara Falls Boulevard, knows first hand how difficult it is to stay in shape while going to school full time.As an undergraduate studying exercise science at UB, she can remember rollerblading with friends along the bike path during the spring and summer, but the winter months were always the most difficult between classes, work and assignments.

A viscous cycle of bad habits

Big butts do not lie.I know because I have one.It tells the story of all the yummy, chocolate-y, fat laden foods I cannot seem to turn down.It reveals the deep dark secret that I am a stressed out, over-achieving college student with a membership to the Buffalo Athletic Club that I use only sporadically.And it is the reason I hate, hate, hate to shop for new clothes.At barely 5 foot 1 inch, I am a healthy, proportionately curvy woman.
