Spectrum editors win Best Breaking News Story at 2018-19 Pinnacle Awards

The Spectrum’s coverage of the fiscal transition from Sub-Board I to the Faculty Student Association won a national award for Best Breaking News Story last week.  The College Media Association announced that former senior news editor Tanveen Vohra and current managing editor Jacklyn Walters won the Pinnacle Award for the spring 2019 story in Washington, D.C. on Friday.

10/15 5:07 p.m. A caller reported a dumpster fire near the solar panels between Flint and Rensch. Playback footage showed the fire, but patrol confirmed the fire was out when they arrived on scene.

Campus High honors to be awarded at UB commencement UB will award L. Nelson Hopkins, State University of New York Distinguished Professor of Neurosurgery, with the Chancellor Charles P. Norton Medal, during the 2019 commencement ceremonies, according to UBNow.

3/25 4:43 p.m. Patrol reported someone slipped and fell outside of Harriman Hall. UPD requested an ambulance which transported the person to the Erie County Medical Center. 11:33 p.m. UPD requested an ambulance for a person with a leg injury at the UB Stadium. The person was conscious, but unable to move their leg. An ambulance transported them to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

Campus Sustainability Month gets underway at UB A symposium hosted by the School of Social Work focusing on poverty as a human rights issue kicked off Sustainability Month on Wednesday, according to UB Now.

3/18 1 a.m. A student reported having a piercing stuck in their ear and said they felt like they were going to pass out. UPD requested an ambulance and arrived at the scene. The student said they no longer felt like they were going to pass out. UPD cancelled the ambulance and advised the student to seek medical attention.

3/04 12:02 a.m. A caller reported a motor vehicle crash in Hadley Village. No injuries occurred. Patrol arrived on the scene and filed a report. A second caller later reported their vehicle was part of the crash.

2/18 9:05 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle slid off the road and into the guardrail at the Flint entrance from Millersport Highway. Patrol arrived on the scene. There were no injuries reported. 1:31 p.m. A student reported someone stole his laptop and bag outside of Knox 20. UPD arrived and filed a report. The student later called back stating someone returned his items to him.
