This Season's Hottest Accessories: A Mixture of High-End and Inspired Handbags

When it comes to fashion, people look to the stars for guidance: judging from the looks of the fun, colorful, shapely handbags on the arms of celebrities this season, handbags are the accessories to be emphasized."I am not a huge spender on clothes, but I spend a lot on bags," said Leah Paszkiewicz, sophomore marketing major.While the amount of money one considers "a lot" is relative, it might be safe to say that the average college student might not find herself on the waiting list for a Birkin bag any time soon.

Students Join the People-Googling Phenomena

After 10 years of public familiarity with search engines, the popular roles are being expanded to include a series of new functions that may have widespread appeal.An emerging trend is the act of self-Googling, or typing one's name into a search engine, usually the popular search engine Google, and using the results of the search as a form of cyber mirror.Daniel Ohanlon, a junior urban planning and public policy major, said a good way to pass the time is to roll the Google dice and see what it produces."I search my name in Google.

Students Begin Search for Housing

With the arrival of March, the search for rooms is heating up as students scramble for fall housing.While many UB students are expecting the normal turmoil that goes with finding housing, some UB officials will not swear on anything yet.Ursula Herz, the residence hall director in Fargo Quadrangle, said judging future housing trends thus far is difficult."It may be too early to tell because students just put in their housing deposits," said Herz.According to the Office of Institutional Analysis, 62 percent of all UB undergraduate students lived on campus in 2003, compared to 79 percent in 2002.The total capacity of all on-campus housing is 7,547 including both North and South campuses.
