"Clowns, zombies and pirates, oh my!"

Zombies, pirates and clowns were just a few of the creepy characters waiting in the shadows of the haunted house in 145 Student Union on Tuesday as part of the early start to UB's Haunted Union.The two-day celebration, which will continue with the entire Haunted Union event on Halloween, is a spooktacular UB tradition."We've been doing the Haunted Union for eight years, and this our seventh year for the haunted house," said Jennifer Wantz, assistant director of student activities.According to Kate Schrum, a volunteer for the event, there have been a few additions to this year's haunted house."This year we have a Saw room, a circus carnival-themed room, a hallway with hanging limbs...this year we also have a mummy room," she said.

Illusionist duo returns to UB

With straight jackets, piles of glass and mind reading, Adult Circus duo Chris Chelko and Michael DuBois entertained a full house in the Student Union Theater this past Tuesday night.The Adult Circus has performed at UB twice in the past year."We did our stage show here a year ago and we did Spring Fest this past spring, and it was really fun," Chelko said.The act began as DuBois ran out onstage and demanded energy from the audience of almost 200 people, asking those present to clap every time he bounced a mini basketball on his head.

Clowns and food highlight Family Weekend circus party

The aroma of peanuts, sausages and cotton candy - mixed in with other circus- themed treats - filled the air around UB stadium on Saturday as UB parents and students were treated to a circus party.Food and entertainment were provided to the family and friends of UB students as part of the campus celebration that is Family Weekend.

Dell and UB update thousands of computers

UB has entered in a partnership with Dell Inc., which will provide the campus with updated machines and software while saving millions of dollars in the process.The deal that has been established will offer a 35-40 percent discount on the new computers."We are going to be able save probably about two million dollars annually by securing the discount from Dell," said Elias Eldayrie, chief information officer of the School of Management.

Big Top UB

Homesick students are in luck as Family Weekend approaches. From Friday Oct.12 through Sunday Oct.14, families of UB students will be visiting and attending several events on campus.
