"At Three-Day Meet, Bulls Tread Into Deeper Waters"

A three-day swim meet stood in front of the Bulls heading into the weekend, but both the UB men's and women's swimming and diving teams were up for the challenge.The men and women swam to fourth and fifth places, respectively, at the Giant Eagle Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio last Friday through Sunday.Over the course of the three-day meet, eight men's teams and 11 women's teams competed, with a few Mid-American Conference schools in the mix."A lot of the teams we faced this weekend we face in the MAC, such as Ball State," said senior Dustin Hui.

Three Young Grapplers Shine in Vegas

Three young UB wrestlers had good showings at a major wrestling invitational in Las Vegas over the weekend.Sophomores Mark McKnight and Mark Budd and freshman Nate Rock each finished in the top 12 in their weight class.Mark McKnight led the Bulls with an eighth-place finish in the 125-pound division.

After losing their first two games of the new season, the UB women's basketball team came home and found the HSBC Arena to be the change of scenery they so desperately needed.UB (1-2) rode the hot hands of forward Viorica Badinici in a 54-45 victory over Lafayette (1-2) on Sat., Nov.

The UB Ice Bulls were caught in unfamiliar territory Tuesday night, trailing late in a game.But the team battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a hard fought 5-4 win over the Monroe Community College Trojans at the Amherst Pepsi Center."We are an extremely confident team.

Being second best is not something your mother may have told you to make a habit of.But Kelli O'Brien has made the most of her supporting role on the women's cross country team.Though she runs in the shadow of Mid-American Conference champion Jenny Koeppel, O'Brien has improved just as quickly.

Men's Tennis Ends Fall Season at Big Green

Playing on familiar courts might have factored into the positive results posted by the UB men's tennis team at The Big Green Invite, hosted by Dartmouth over the weekend.The Bulls made the most out of their final tournament of the fall in what was their second trip to New Hampshire this season.The tournament format was another non-scoring event, like the Volkl Shootout held in September.

UB's Koeppel Wins MAC Cross Country Title

Senior Jenny Koeppel, a four time 2004 MAC Runner of the Week, added another accomplishment to her already stellar season Saturday.Koeppel, UB's best runner this season, clocked in at 17:51.70 to lead all 107 women's runners in the Mid-American Conference championships in Toledo, Ohio.

Women's Soccer Struggles

The UB women's soccer team returned from a long road trip with a tie and a loss against two conference foes.The Bulls (3-10-1 overall, 2-5-1 MAC) managed to come away with a 2-2 tie on Friday when they visited defending MAC Champion Western Michigan.
