Speckman's no-hitter helps Bulls win first-ever MAC East title

Senior pitcher Tori Speckman's first no-hitter of this season came April 5. It was historic because it was just the third no-hitter in program history. Her second no-hitter, which happened Saturday, was historic for more than one reason: she became the first pitcher in program history to throw more than one no-hitter, and it helped the softball team clinch its first-ever Mid-American Conference East title. The Bulls (27-20, 11-5 MAC) swept Kent Sate (24-18, 10-6 MAC) in a two-game series this weekend to earn their first MAC East title and set a new single-season wins record (27). The team also tied the program's record for conference wins (11). The softball team enters the MAC Tournament as the No.

An unbreakable bond

It starts with a quick glance and subtle smirk. There is a connection between sophomore tennis players Sergio Arevalillo and Pablo Alvarez that requires no words for them to understand each other. "We just look at each other and know what's going on," Alvarez said.

Speckman and Gallardo break program records

Individual performances by members of the softball team will forever be remembered as two seniors etched their names into the school record books this weekend. Softball falls on Senior Day

Buffalo's last home loss over the weekend involved much more than what was on the scoreboard. Although the Bulls (21-20, 5-5 Mid-American Conference) lost three out of four games this past weekend, their biggest loss was saying goodbye to their five senior players. Seniors center fielder Holly Luciano, shortstop Sammi Gallardo, third baseman Tori Pettine, first baseman Heather Ryder and pitcher Tori Speckman lost their last game at Nan Harvey Field, falling to Toledo (15-31, 6-10 MAC) 6-2 on Senior Day.

The Bulls (16-15, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) defeated Ohio (19-15, 4-2 MAC), 4-0, on Speckman's historic day, but dropped Sunday's game 6-3 in their first two games of MAC play.

Women's tennis easily defeats Huskies on the road

The women's tennis team's motto this year has been to play with consistency and discipline. The Bulls (11-3, 2-1 Mid-American Conference) followed this game plan on Saturday, as they took an early lead in the match and never slowed down, defeating Northern Illinois (6-8, 1-3 MAC) 6-1 Saturday afternoon. Head coach Kristen Maines believes the players executed the game plan perfectly, sticking to what has worked for them all season long. "It's been a theme for us on how we work, by being consistent first and then we're able to win the big point," Maines said.

Splitting Spring Break

Spring Break was not all fun for the women's tennis team, as it split four matches. The Bulls (10-3, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) traveled to Florida for the first half of their four-match week and encountered their first losing streak of the season.
