Swing batter, batter!That was the cry heard from Studio Arena Theater Friday night at the opening of the two-man play "Rounding Third," a baseball comedy written by Richard Dresser and directed by Jane Page.

Move over Michael Flatley.There is an Irish dance show in town that can captivate an audience better than the sweat-drenched and bare-chested "Lord of the Dance."High-kicks, knee-slaps, finger-snaps and even ankle-twists were components of the Trinity Irish Dance Company's performance Friday night at the Center for the Arts' Mainstage Theater.The Trinity Irish Dance Company, an Irish-American ensemble, has performed across the world and sold out shows in Asia and Europe.

Amid craggy rocks, the stage was set for the world premier of Bryan Delaney's award-winning play "The Cobbler," which opened at the Irish Classical Theater Company Friday night.The Cobbler was Delaney's first play and was selected from over 500 entries in the 16th International Playwriting Competition, established by the Warehouse Theater in London.

Obligatory disrobing

"The Wedding Date," directed by Clare Kilner ("How to Deal"), opens this Friday. The film is strategically marketed as a desirable Valentine's Day date flick, though at times it's as predictable as Grandma's Thanksgiving stuffing, fulfilling the obligations of a modern romantic comedy.Kat Ellis, played by Debra Messing of "Will & Grace," is a single young woman living in New York who hires a male escort to accompany her to her sister's wedding and pose as her doting boyfriend.When the ordered escort, played by Dermot Mulroney ("About Schmidt"), surprisingly turns out to be gorgeous, the viewer gets an idea of where the film is heading.
