Fan Site Grows With Bulls' Wins

Bulls fans who can't get enough of the Sea of Blue at Alumni Arena have taken their spirit online, to a popular site called UBFan.com.At this site, visitors are treated to daily polls, fan forums, top ten lists, and exclusive articles on UB's athletics program.The website began as a simple dream for Kyu Hwang, a 1995 UB graduate who characterizes himself as one of the biggest Bulls fans of all time."As a Bulls supporter who lives in NYC, I was always starving for information on how the team was doing," Hwang said.

Champs Come to Town for MAC Opener

Tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the Mid-American Conference East division, the UB men's basketball team will open the 2004-2005 MAC portion of its schedule this Saturday night when the Bulls host the defending conference champion Western Michigan.Last season, Western Michigan was a powerhouse, breezing through the conference on the way to recording an impressive 15-3 MAC record and a 26-5 overall record.After the Broncos (3-2 overall, 0-0 MAC) defeated Kent State 77-67 in the MAC title game, they earned an automatic NCAA tournament bid, where the team eventually fell to Vanderbilt in the first round, 71-58.This season, the Broncos return three starters, and will strongly compete with the other teams in the MAC West for a chance at a title repeat.Western Michigan is armed with a handful of very potent weapons, including 2004 All-MAC first team honoree Ben Reed.

For the Bulls' loyal fans and their thousands of new ones, last year's season was the stuff of dreams.In early March of 2004, Alumni Arena was filled to capacity and chants of "You can't win here!" echoed loudly throughout the building.

Cross Country Ready For Regionals

The UB cross country team continues to run like the wind, even through the frigid November weather.The Bulls will send their top six men and top seven women, including star runner Jenny Koeppel, to the Northeast Regional this Saturday.The race will take place in New York City, and it will showcase elite runners from over 30 different schools in the Northeast U.S.Head Coach Vicki Mitchell is confident that her runners will have a great weekend."It has been a pretty low-key week of training," said Mitchell.

"Zeppuhar Makes Holes, Cracks Jokes"

One of the big men up front who clears the way for the Bulls' "Four Horsemen" running backs is offensive lineman Erik Zeppuhar, an All-American Academic Athlete and one of the funniest players on the team.Born in Allison Park, Pa., Zeppuhar said he dreamed of playing college football as a child."It has always been my lifelong dream to play college football," said Zeppuhar.

Cross Country Begins Chase for MAC Title

The men's and women's cross country teams expect to contend for the top few spots in the conference in this weekend's Mid-American Conference Championships in Toledo, Ohio.Both UB squads have recorded some great finishes this season.

One Is Loneliest Number for Men's Soccer

It has been a long, tough season for the UB men's soccer team. After an impressive 6-1-1 start to the 2004 season, the Bulls have produced only one victory since, losing six of their past seven games.Other teams in the Mid-American Conference have not been kind to the Bulls.

This Hockey Team's Still Playing

On Oct. 10, hockey fans were crushed when the NHL season was all but cancelled. Adding to the sorrow, Monday night would have been the Sabres' home opener.However, quality hockey is still being played on one Buffalo rink - the Pepsi Center near North Campus, home to the UB club hockey team, one of the nation's best club teams.A member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association, UB is causing an early season stir among competitors in the league, and is currently ranked 19th in the ACHA national poll with a 9-1 record.Buffalo men's hockey began in 1988 at the Division I level.
