Despite the bitter wind howling at the front doors last Wednesday, the Student Union was filled with holiday warmth and music.Enthusiasm for the upcoming vacation filled the air along with scents of the season as students crowded around activity tables.The Festival of Traditions, sponsored by the Student Activities and Team UB, offered a welcoming taste of the variety of holidays and traditions celebrated at this time of year.Co-organizer Kate Schrum, a graduate student in the Student Affairs administration program was pleased with how the festival turned out."We have so much to offer here," Schrum said.
UB's fleet maintenance crew is beginning what might be the longest test drive ever.The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority have loaned two hydrogen-powered cars -Toyota Priuses - to the crew's compliment for two years.

As students and faculty gear up for the final stretch of school this semester, the Student Association is also preparing for the last of the season's activities and taking pride in its success thus far.Leaders of SA say they have made an impact on the student body through efforts such as bringing free events for undergraduates, buying more SA vans for club use and extending the hours of operation in both Capen and Health Science libraries.

Students and faculty will be treated to lectures by prestigious speakers through the School of Management this year, thanks to a $50,000 donation to by brothers Gerald Sufrin, chair of the Department of Urology, and Leslie Sufrin, C.P.A.The gift was given under the title of the Helen and Oscar Sufrin Endowed Lectureship, named for the brothers' late parents.
