Rachael Gregory transfers from UB

Buffalo women?s basketball sophomore guard/forward Rachael Gregory has decided to transfer from Buffalo to another university to finish her basketball career. ?I LOVE Buffalo, the school and all of the relationships I?ve made,? Gregory told The Spectrum via Twitter. She has not decided yet where she wants to transfer to and didn?t wish to disclose her reasons for leaving. ?I know that all of my now former teammates have bright futures at UB, and after UB as well,? Gregory said. Gregory led Buffalo with 10.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game thorough 17 games her freshman year (2012-13 season) before suffering a season-ending ACL injury.

New York says 'yes' to yes

In an encouraging legislative move, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has ordered the SUNY system to revamp its sexual assault policy, revealing that sexual assault remains on the forefront of lawmakers? minds. It appears that, finally, this issue is being taken seriously even after it fades from headlines (though this new development has brought the topic back to the front page), and lawmakers are generating long-term, permanent solutions that allow for greater optimism than ever before. The new, statewide policy requires that New York?s public universities include an affirmative consent rule on all campuses.

Too many UB students are fair-weather Bulls fans

When a tailgate is so massive and fans are so enthusiastic (read: intoxicated) that the University Police realizes its patrol isn?t sufficient, it?s fair to say the event can be deemed a success. An estimated 5,000 students attended the Party at the Point tailgate preceding UB?s matchup with No.

Sexual assaults on college campuses continue to make headlines and universities need to make a difference

It?s an all-too familiar story by now: When senior art student Emma Sulkowicz reported to authorities at Columbia University she?d been raped in her dorm by a male student, her case was dismissed and her rapist remained on campus. But Sulkowicz?s story joins the legions of cases gaining national attention as she, after finding out that two other students also reported being raped by her attacker, has refused to stay silent.
