Bulls go Bowling

The Bulls play in the Dollar General Bowl on Dec. 22 against the Troy Trojans. The game takes place in Mobile, Alabama at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. It is Buffalo’s first bowl game since 2013.

Bulls headed to Dollar General Bowl

Buffalo football head coach Lance Leipold wants his team to be proud but not satisfied. Leipold had a chance to address his team Sunday, meeting for the first time since losing the Mid-American Conference Championship game. Through mixed emotions as the Bulls process the loss, Buffalo announced it will be playing a bowl game this year.

Seniors lead charge in win over Central Connecticut State

The Bulls made it a three-game win streak on Saturday, beating the Central Connecticut State Devils 82-69 on the road. Buffalo’s (5-1) strongest performances came from senior guard Cierra Dillard and senior forward Brittany Morrison. Dillard led in scoring, finishing with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Morrison had her first double-double of the season, having 11 points and 16 rebounds Saturday afternoon.

Bulls win Belfast Classic

 The Bulls beat the Milwaukee Panthers (2-6) and the San Francisco Dons (7-1) this weekend, to win the Belfast Hall of Fame Classic in Belfast, Northern Ireland for the first time in program history.

Disappointment in Detroit

DETROIT –– The Bulls were up 19 points in the second half and there was little doubt they would be the Mid-American Conference champions. But Northern Illinois shocked Buffalo by scoring 20 unanswered points and the Huskies became MAC football champs instead.

The Edge: MAC Championship Edition

The Bulls are headed for the Mid-American Conference Championship for the first time since 2008.  Buffalo football (10-2, 7-1 MAC) will play the Northern Illinois Huskies (7-5, 6-2 MAC) at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan Friday at 7 p.m. The Bulls are looking for the program’s second MAC Championship, coming off winning the MAC East Division this season.

Drinking with the Bulls

UB began selling alcohol at basketball games last week and offered solely Bud Light at concession stands and standalone kiosks. Within a few months, there could be a lot more drinking options for UB sports fans.

Balling in Belfast

The Bulls are trading one cold city for another to compete in Belfast, Northern Ireland for two games in the Belfast Hall of Fame Classic. No. 21 Buffalo enters the game looking for its first non-conference tournament win with Nate Oats as head coach.

Back to take the MAC

“I think where the game ended is the story of our season. It has its flashes and [we were close], but not good enough,” said head coach Lance Leipold two years ago when the Bulls finished their season 2-10. They lost 27-19 to Bowling Green at Perry Doyt Stadium. The Bulls walked off the field disappointed with the effort and the results on the season. 


Senior guard CJ Massinburg lays the ball up and in past the Daemon defenders. Massinburg returned after a one game absence Saturday, scoring 21 in a win against the Marist Red Foxes.

Bulls trample Marist at home

Senior guard CJ Massinburg returned to continue his highlight season Saturday afternoon and  helped men’s basketball win 76-49 over the Marist Red Foxes.  The Bulls (5-0) were solid scoring, shooting 27-of-53 from the court and making 50 percent of their three attempts. Massinburg and sophomore guard Jayvon Graves made up almost half of Buffalo’s scoring, combing for 10 three pointers and 6 rebounds. Graves earned a season-high 16 points, marking his third double-digit scoring performance this season.

MAC East Champs

The Bulls are Mid-American Conference East Champions for the first time in 10 years. Buffalo finished the season 10-2 and 7-1 in conference play. The 10 wins are the most in school history.

Bulls beat Dartmouth to continue undefeated season

The Bulls kept their national rank intact, beating Dartmouth 110-71 Wednesday night at Alumni Arena. The No.22 Buffalo (4-0) was aided by three big performances from senior forward Nick Perkins, junior guard Davonta Jordan and sophomore guard Jayvon Graves. Perkins led the trio in points and rebounds, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Graves and Jordan finished with a combined 32 points and 10 assists. Buffalo scored 55 points in each half, while holding Dartmouth to less than 40 in each.

UB’s rowing club team has been making a fresh name for itself at competitions. It continues to ride the wave of momentum, with strong outings in the last month.  But the club is demanding attention.

Volleyball season comes to end in MAC Championship quarterfinal

Volleyball lost 3-1 to the Eastern Michigan Eagles Friday in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Championship in Oxford, Ohio. Buffalo (18-11, 9-6 MAC) came into the tournament on a five-game win streak. The team earned a first round bye with the No. 4 seed in the championship, but was unable to capitalize on it.

Bulls scrape together win in Southern Illinois

The Bulls made back-to-back road wins with their 62-53 victory over the Southern Illinois Salukis on Monday night. The No. 25-ranked men’s basketball team came in to the road matchup off the program’s first top 25 ranking. 


A ropes course is on UB land next to Sweet Home Senior High School. Both schools have plans to see the course taken down, but no dates are set yet.

Taking down the course

University officials are working with Sweet Home Senior High School to take down the unused ropes course on UB property behind the high school’s baseball field. UB has no plans for the course, and the course is no longer maintained, according to UB spokesperson Kate McKenna.

Men’s basketball ranked No. 25

The Bulls are ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the first time in school history. Coming off their win against No. 13 West Virginia, the Bulls received 154 votes in the first regular season poll. West Virginia finished 26th with 145 votes.

Bulls fall short against Ohio

Ohio prevented Buffalo from becoming MAC East champions for the first time since 2008. The Bulls had the opportunity to clinch the Mid-American Conference East title on Wednesday night. With a loss, the Ohio Bobcats (7-4, 5-2 MAC) would be eliminated from winning the MAC East title.
