Regan's strong night powers Bulls past Kent State

In the first half of the men basketball team's game against Kent State on Saturday, the Bulls' offense was so stagnant that at one point it went nine minutes without scoring a field goal. But the squad's defensive play kept it close, and when UB opened up the second half with a 22-11 run, it gave the Bulls the lead for good. Buffalo (9-5, 3-1 Mid-American Conference) stayed undefeated at home, defeating rival Kent State (11-6, 2-2 MAC), 71-60, in front of an Alumni Arena crowd of 3,347. Bulls fall to Manhattan in OT at Barclay's Center

Despite leading Manhattan in field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage, the men's basketball team struggled with turnovers and missed free throws down the stretch on Saturday afternoon, allowing the Jaspers to stay in the game. After UB appeared to have the game wrapped up with about a minute left to play, missed free throws allowed Manhattan to force the game into overtime and eventually win. The Bulls (4-4) fell to the Jaspers (9-2, 2-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), 84-81 on Saturday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. "I thought we gave a winning effort," said head coach Bobby Hurley.

Bowl Projections

The football team's regular season may be over, but with an overall record of 8-4, the Bulls will most likely receive the third bowl invitation in school history on Sunday. With a probable top-10 draft pick in senior linebacker Khalil Mack and other top-flight draft-eligible talents like senior running back Branden Oliver and senior receiver Alex Neutz, the Bulls could be a hot commodity when bowls decide who to send invitations to. Until Sunday (8:30 p.m., ESPN), we can only guess where the Bulls will end up, but here are a few bowls that might feature the Bulls. Idaho Potato Bowl Boise, Idaho The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl usually pits the third-best team in the Mid-American Conference against the sixth-best team in the Mountain West Conference. Based on its regular season record, Buffalo is the fourth best team in the MAC, but if Northern Illinois wins on Friday, the Huskies will likely earn a BCS bowl berth.

Tuning in to women's basketball

The women's basketball team may not have an official "anthem," but the players have no shortage of celebratory singalongs. Whether it's junior forward Cherridy Thornton singing any of the numerous hits from Drake's newest album Nothing Was The Same, or freshman guard Joanna Smith belting out "Girl with the Tattoo" by Miguel, the locker room is always an area of entertainment. The most popular songs among the girls include "Beat It" by Sean Kingston featuring Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa and "Clarity" by Zedd. Chris Brown and Drake dominate the airtime inside the locker room. Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack has a wide range of music she considers to among her favorites.

"Bowling Green dominates second half, shatters UB's MAC title hopes"

This game was decided during halftime. We do not know what happened within each team's locker room, but it is clear that the Bowling Green Falcons came out of the break ready to battle in their most important game of the season to date, and the University at Buffalo Bulls did not. It cost Buffalo a shot at the MAC title. UB led 7-3 at the half, but Bowling Green dominated the second half to win 24-7 in front of an announced 26,226 (paid attendance) at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
