UB Students Elected to NYSSA E-Board

State representation for UB was given a good, hard boost last Saturday when UB students George Pape and Celine Traylor snagged two of four executive board positions on the New York State Student Assembly.Pape, a junior history major, was elected vice president and Traylor, a senior dual-major in political science and African-American Studies, was elected treasurer.

Marshall and Miami Each Post MAC Wins as East Division Race Heats Up

Marshall 50, Akron 33In what has become his season ritual, Marshall quarterback Byron Leftwich scorched his opponents' defense as the Thundering Herd amassed more than 700 yards of total offense en route to a commanding victory over the Akron Zips last weekend.Leftwich, considered a dark horse candidate for the Heisman Trophy, threw for 434 yards and four touchdowns.

X-Country Snags Fifth at MACs

The UB men's cross country squad placed fifth out of 12 participating teams at the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday at the Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Mich.For the second-consecutive year, host Eastern Michigan won the men's competition, with a total of 30 points.

A local group of business leaders flexed their philanthropic muscles, pooling their resources to award scholarships and internships to civic and business-minded UB students.The 43x79 Group, named for Buffalo's geographic latitude and longitude coordinates, is the benefactor of the Build Buffalo Scholarship, in its second year of existence.
