UB will hold its 2022 commencement ceremonies from April 29 to May 22.

UB releases 2022 commencement schedule

Graduate and undergraduate students will be able to walk the stage in person from April 29 to May 22, according to UB’s commencement website. The festivities will kick off the day before, with a recognition for veterans and military members at 145 Student Union. Then, the Center for the Arts, Slee Hall, Alumni Arena and the Student Union will play host to nearly two dozen ceremonies and events. 


One World Café will open two eateries — Kali Orexi and Tikka Table — to the public in March.

One World Café opens its doors to students

Three years ago, then-Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Graham Hammill envisioned One World Café as “much more than a place to eat.” Last Monday, UB opened the newly-constructed café to students — with exactly that goal in mind.


Fatoumala Drammeh, 21, died in the fire along with her mother, 19-year-old sister and 12-year-old brother.

Fatoumala Drammeh, a third-year student studying political science, was among the 17 people killed in a high-rise fire in the Bronx Sunday, UB confirmed in a statement.

UB announces renovations to Kanazawa Island

Kanazawa Island, a tiny island located next to Lake LaSalle, is in the process of receiving “much-needed” renovations, according to a UBNow article. Situated near Wilkeson Quadrangle, the island is a little-known formation on UB’s vast campus. 


UB’s Study Abroad office is located at 201 Talbert Hall.

SUNY red-tapes study abroad programs

Over a year-and-a-half after 10 UB students studying abroad in Italy returned home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, SUNY is continuing to uphold its strict criteria blocking students from studying abroad,  despite other institutions resuming their programs. 


Paul Tesluk is stepping down as the dean of the School of Management at the end of the semester.

Paul Tesluk to step down as School of Management dean

Paul Tesluk will step down as dean of UB’s School of Management by the end of the academic year, the university announced in late November. Tesluk will reprise a faculty position as the Donald S. Carmichael Professor of Organizational Behavior in UB’s Department of Organization and Human Resources.
