Spring Awakening is truly an awakening for its characters and for the audience, adding a modern-day twist to a strict German society in the 1890s. Originally written as a play in 1891 by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening was revived as a musical by Duncan Sheik (music) and Steven Sater (book and lyrics) when it hit Broadway in 2006.

A Latin percussion section usually takes a large compilation of instruments, but for legendary tap dancer Savion Glover, it takes only two ? his feet. Hundreds of dance fans flooded the CFA Thursday night to watch the production of Solo In Time and to see "the greatest tap dancer who ever lived" take the dance floor. The entire performance was designed to capture the essence of the "flamenco" theme as Glover strived to "allow one to hear the dance versus see the dance," a message he spread frequently throughout the night. Glover's tap shoes were the basis for the numerous percussive sounds generated in the flamenco, echoing the rhythms of Latin percussion.
The American Repertory Theater premiered three one-act plays featuring enough local talent and emotional terrain to undoubtedly impress newcomers. On Thursday night, local playwrights Mark Humphrey, Mark Lloyd and Matthew LaChiusa each presented a one-act play.
The Mel Brooks classic Young Frankenstein and his monster were alive and kicking, singing, dancing, and terrorizing the citizens of Transylvania last week at Shea's Performing Arts Center. The musical, written by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, was originally adapted from the story-turned-screenplay written by Brooks and Gene Wilder back in 1974.

Batman: The Dark Knight No. 2 Bats has taken to the streets to find a Lohan-esque socialite that goes by the ludicrous name of Dawn Golden, and while the plot of this issue manages to capture a rage-filled vigilante, it is a few tools short of a utility belt. David Finch writes with incredible purpose and vision, and he does so in a way that is attempting to recreate Batman in a new, harsher tone.
Artist: The Strokes Album: Angles Label: RCA Release: March 18 Grade: A- After a five-year-long hiatus that was shrouded in mystery save for disquieting reports of tensions among its members, the New York City rockers are back with 10 new tracks, collectively titled Angles. Angles will inevitably raise some eyebrows.

Every year, SA is in charge of about $4 million, much of which goes toward Fall and Spring Fests. For this year's Spring Fest, SA is bringing Wiz Khalifa, Nas and Damian Marley, Tinie Tempah, and Big Sean to UB. Wiz Khalifa is best known for his number-one hit single "Black and Yellow." Since first breaking on to the radio, Wiz has garnered a lot of attention from fans and fellow rappers alike. Wiz Khalifa is on a climb to the top of the rap game, which he hopes will be finalized with his first studio release, Rolling Papers, due out March 29. Alongside Wiz are Nas and Damian Marley.
