The moment I stepped foot onto the UB campus at the beginning of my freshman year, I had one clear goal in mind: find a boyfriend. And so, I started to consider my options. I could do it old school and try to meet someone in a bar, but then wouldn’t I look creepy? Perhaps I could meet someone in my classes, but who goes up to their random classmates and asks them out? I certainly did not want to.

Men’s tennis competed in the ITA New England Regional Championships this past weekend at Yale University. Two players advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles draw. All three doubles pairings advanced to the Round of 16.

On Sept. 28, the National Football League (NFL) and Apple Music announced Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny, also known as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LX. As the most-streamed artist on the planet, this choice will go down in history as one of the most calculated halftime picks in history as there is a rise of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and anti-immigration laws happening in the United States.

Right in the heart of Buffalo, abandoned, injured and displaced dogs get a second chance at a better life through Buffalo Underdogs Rescue, a local nonprofit organization that has been operating since 2018. The group dedicates its time, energy and resources to rescuing overlooked dogs from shelters and placing them in foster homes where they are prepared for adoption.

The undergraduate Student Association (SA) Senate voted to pass a once-controversial resolution that would allow the president and treasurer, in a joint act, to remove club council coordinators from their positions last Wednesday. Nineteen senators were in favor, one voted against and two had abstained.

Thursday night the UB women’s soccer (8-2-1, 4-1 MAC) team defeated the Akron Zips (3-5-3, 0-3-2 MAC) 1-0 at UB Stadium. This win sees the Bulls extend their win streak to four.

The Bulls (3-3, 2-0 MAC) welcomed the Eastern Michigan Eagles (1-5, 0-2 MAC) to UB Stadium for homecoming this past Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Buffalo came into the game as 10 point favorites and looking for a win after a close loss against the University of Connecticut. The Eagles came into this game looking to bounce back after consecutive conference losses.

On the fourth floor of Clemens is a little-known research center dedicated to one of academia’s most controversial disciplines: psychoanalysis. UB’s Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Culture, founded in 1968 by a group of Shakespearean scholars, continues to remain active until this day.

This past Wednesday, Sept. 24, Fitz Books and Waffles was host to a poetry reading night featuring bilingual poets sharing poems in both English and their native language. The languages featured were Portuguese and Spanish, with four poets in total. The night started off calm with poets, organizers and audience members mingling around the long tables of books running down the center of the store.

Gurucharan Nethi, a sophomore at UB, has always dreamed of being an actor. Although he’s currently a business major, he spends his nights practicing monologues, perfecting his Bollywood dance craft and constantly dreaming of a life where acting would be his primary pursuit. Through hard work and determination, he was able to feature in his first film.

The UB Women's Soccer (7-2-1, 3-1-0 MAC) team defeated the Ball State Cardinals (4-4-2, 1-2-1 MAC) 2-1 Thursday night at UB Stadium. On Sunday the Bulls traveled to Ohio to take on the Kent State Golden Eagles (4-4-3, 2-2 MAC), scraping by 1-0. These wins extended the Bulls’ win streak to 3.
