McEvans started playing basketball at age five, but she has had to overcome adversity to get to where she is today.
With a 4.2 GPA, McEvans was named valedictorian of her high school class. “I don't want to be known as the typical athlete,” she said.
McEvans put up big numbers in high school, but she isn't focused on individual accolades — she's focused on winning.
McEvans started playing basketball at the age of five. “You could see even then that she was dominant,” her mother Anika said.
“I'm aggressive,” McEvans said. “I have confidence through the roof.” McEvans models her game after the late Kobe Bryant, who was known for his “Mamba Mentality.”
