Bars, costumes and booze. You simply can’t get more Halloween than that. This past Saturday, bars on Chippewa Street in the heart of Downtown Buffalo banded together to host the seventh annual “Halloween Boo’zin Bar Crawl,” sponsored by Eventage. Thousands, including native Buffalonians, UB students and people from all over came together to make this event a smash hit.

Over the weekend, the Bulls women’s basketball team opened their season at home with a 69-63 win over Canisius in an exhibition game. This first game of the season was the UB debut for head coach Kristen Sharkey as well as the majority of the Bulls’ roster.

Burglaries were up by 50% and drug violations were at a record zero — for the first time in UPD history — according to University Police’s 2024-25 annual security report released on Oct. 1. Motor vehicle thefts, which include electronic bicycles and scooters, have gone down from 25 in 2023 to ten in 2024.

The Bulls (3-3, 2-0 MAC) traveled to Amherst, Mass. on Saturday for an in-conference battle against the UMass Minutemen (0-6, 0-2 MAC). UMass was still searching for their first win since their recent return to the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The Minutemen came in as 16.5 point underdogs, but they still gave the Bulls all that they could handle. It took a strong defensive series and a 22 second touchdown drive for the Bulls to put them away and secure a 28-21 point win.

The Bulls swim and dive team had their first meet of the season this past weekend at home, competing with Niagara University and Cornell University. The Cornell Big Red swam and dove exhibition for the meet, meaning the only scored swims were against the Niagara Purple Eagles. The Bulls dominated both the swimming and diving portions of the meet to walk away with a 213-58 win over the Purple Eagles.

Huntington’s disease is a rare, inherited neurodegenerative disorder that affects the brain and drastically decreases quality of life. Although Huntington’s disease has been present for centuries, it was successfully treated for the first time, in September of 2025, by the company UniQure using a treatment called AMT-130.
