Who would have ever imagined a small city of less than 15,000 inhabitants would launch one of Interscope Records' newest pop sensations?
Kaci Brown, pop vocalist extraordinaire, began her career as a teenager in Sulphur Springs, Texas, 80 miles east of Dallas. Originally determined to be a country singer, she was swayed when her early fans showed a great interest in her pop talents.
Her debut album "Instigator" consists of a unique assortment of country, pop, R&B and hip-hop. At the earliest impression, her ability seems to lie somewhere between Mandy Moore and Christina Aguilera.
Many of Kaci's newest local fans may have resulted from her performance at the Backstreet Boys concert at Darien Lake's Amphitheatre this summer.
"Instigator," which contains 11 tracks, begins with her debut single "Unbelievable," a song on the subject of unhappy love. It then proceeds with the R&B and hip-hop influenced "Instigator." The title track also features rappers El Fudge and VA Slim. Brown makes a great first impression with these tracks.
Towards the middle of the disk, she presents tracks devoted to pop culture that include "Cadillac Hotel," "Body Language," "The Waltz" and "My Baby," to name a few. Brown then furnishes the end of the album with a few slow songs that exhibit her fine vocal talents.
