After winning the past two weeks and keeping the season afloat, the UB football team (2-5, 2-1 MAC) lost its first Mid-American Conference (MAC) game of the season to Bowling Green (3-4, 1-2 MAC) by a score of 24-14.
Despite the loss on a rainy afternoon , there were a few Bulls that stood out from the rest of the pack.
Graduate quarterback Cole Snyder started off the scoring for Buffalo as he went on a ten-yard run to put the team up 7-0 early in the first quarter. Graduate wide receiver Darrell Harding Jr. had the other touchdown on a 24-yard pass from junior quarterback CJ Ogbonna in the 3rd quarter.
Ogbonna replaced Synder in the second half after Snyder struggled in the first half, but both quarterbacks struggled throwing the ball, combining for four interceptions. Graduate kicker Alex McNulty notched both extra points but missed a 50 yard field goal in the third quarter after Bowling Green iced him with a timeout.
Harding Jr. ended the day with two receptions for 39 yards and the touchdown Fifth-year running back Ron Cook Jr. had 3 receptions for 18 yards and 12 rushing attempts for 47 yards
Defensively, junior cornerback Jayden Oliver and freshman cornerback Charles McCartherens both snagged interceptions for the Bulls. Graduate defensive end Max Michel, graduate linebacker Joe Andreessen, and graduate safety Demetrius Harris had Bowling Green’s quarterback Camden Orth in their sights throughout the afternoon, forcing two fumbles and earning one QB hit.
The Bulls look to get back on track with a matchup at Kent State (1-6, 0-3 MAC), next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
