Women's Basketball

Kim Kilpela was named MAC East Division Player of the Week for the first time in her career Monday. Kilpela had 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 71-65 road victory at Eastern Michigan. She shot 77.8 percent from the field and six of her rebounds were on the offensive glass. The junior is averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Women's Swimming

The Bulls (3-4, 1-3 MAC) split their meets this past weekend, falling to St. Bonaventure 164-129 on Friday and defeating Niagara 172.5-112.5. Against the Bonnies, UB placed 1-2 in both the 1000 freestyle and 500 freestyle with junior Jolie Pun winning both races and senior captain Trina Sinclair taking second in both. Freshman Ashlee Burton took first in both one-meter and three-meter diving. Sophomore Jennefer Brankovsky won two races (100 fly, 200 IM) and came in a close second in the 100 breaststroke.

The Bulls took first place in each of the first 12 events and cruised to a victory over the visiting Purple Eagles. Brankovsky won the 50 free and 200 backstroke, and Pun won the 200 free and 100 free. Burton was tops once again in one-meter diving. Other individual winners include Melissa Schafer (1000 free), Lisa Boettrich (100 backstroke), Janet Reynolds (200 fly), and Rachael Rubin (500 free). Sara Defendorf tied for first in the 100 breaststroke turning in a time of 1:11:95.

Men's Swimming

Buffalo (2-3, 0-2) dropped a non-conference meet to St. Bonaventure on Thursday afternoon 146.5-96.5. Freshman Patrick Lee swept the one- and three-meter. Mark Sy won the 1000 free with a time of 9:53:81 and finished second in the 200 fly in 1:54:86. Dave Richards took first in the 200 backstroke in 1:57:02.
