Men's Basketball

Brian Andre and Andrew Atman have both signed National Letters of Intent to attend UB and play for the basketball team, according to Head Coach Reggie Witherspoon.

Andre is a 6'9", 270-pound forward from Bingham, Maine (Valley High School). His team compiled a 105-1 record during his four seasons there, and Andre averaged 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game his senior year. He will attend Maine Central Institute during the 2002-03 academic year and will play basketball.

Atman is a 6'11" 190-pound forward from Upper St. Clair, Pa. He averaged 11 points, nine rebounds, and 4.5 blocks his junior year at Upper St. Clair High School.

Cross Country

The men finished 12th out of the 33 team field in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet this past Saturday. The men won the SUNY Centers title by finishing ahead of Binghamton and Albany. Senior Jerimie Slick had the best finish for the Bulls, coming in 16th in a field of 223 runners. He completed the 10K course in 32:31.80.

The women finished 14th out of 35 teams in the same meet. The women came in second in the SUNY Centers title, finishing behind Stony Brook, but defeated Binghamton and Albany. The UB women were led by senior Melissa Burrows, who finished her 6K course in 22:28.80. Burrows placed 53rd out of 238 runners

Volleyball

The Bulls volleyball team lost in three games to Bowling Green on Friday night, but the 3-0 win was not indicative of the competitiveness during the games.

UB fell 30-28 in the first game, 31-29 in the second and then lost 30-21 in the third game. Lindsay Matikosh led the Bulls as usual, recording nine kills, three blocks and a match-high 16 digs.

Kristin Gamby led Bowling Green with12 kills and 12 digs, which upped the school's record to 4-12 in the MAC and 9-19 overall.

Buffalo fell to 1-15 in the MAC and 9-21 overall. They have two more matches remaining in the 2002 season, a home game against Ohio on Friday and another home encounter with Miami of Ohio on Saturday.
