Successes in women’s soccer, track and field, football and swim and dive were all highlights of the 2022-23 athletic year.

After a 0-4 start to the season, UB football seems to have found its footing in MAC conference play. The Bulls (2-4, 2-0 MAC) earned their second victory of the season Saturday, taking down Central Michigan (3-3, 1-1 MAC) by a score of 37-13.

The UB defense picked up right where it left off in last week’s victory over Akron on Central Michigan’s first drive of the game. On a 3rd-and-8, Bulls sophomore safety Devin Grant tipped a ball up in the air to himself, before taking it 30 yards for a UB touchdown. Last week, Grant had the game-sealing field goal block in the 13-10 overtime win at Akron.

Grant was just getting started on Saturday, as he picked off the Chippewa’s quarterback two more times, highlighted by an early third quarter pass taken 55 yards the other way for his second defensive touchdown of the day.

Central Michigan was able to move the ball despite its low point total, but four turnovers ultimately proved to be the Chippewa’s downfall.

Bulls graduate quarterback Cole Snyder looked sharp on the afternoon, finishing 20 of 32 for 232 yards, connecting with senior wide receiver Boobie Curry for 74 of those yards on four catches.

Fifth year running back Ron Cook Jr. led the UB backfield with 11 carries for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The Bulls will be back at UB Stadium next Saturday for their homecoming game against Bowling Green at 3:30 p.m. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
