The Bulls (2-18, 1-7 MAC) went on the road to square off against the Ohio Bobcats (11-10, 5-4 MAC) and lost 91-71. This marks UB’s seventh straight loss after starting conference play 1-0.
UB held a 10-4 lead early in the first half but soon lost it. The Bobcats dominated the first half by shooting 47% from the field and 38% from three, giving them a 15-point lead at the break. After shooting 32% from the field, 18% from three, and 66% from the free throw line the Bulls were sitting at a 26-41 deficit at halftime.
In the second half, UB played a tighter game, ending the game shooting 42%, 47% from three, and 72% from the line.
Despite the loss, a few Bulls stood out: fifth-year forward Sy Chatman, senior forward Jonnivius Smith, freshman guard Ryan Sabol, and senior forward Isaiah Adams. Chatman led the squad with 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists, followed by Smith with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and one assist, Adams with 11 points, four rebounds, and one assist, and Sabol with 10 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
The Bulls will host the Kent State Golden Flashes (10-11, 3-6 MAC) in Alumni Arena this Friday, Feb. 2. Tip-off is at 6:30 and the game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
