Turner Battle

UB men's basketball player Battle was named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week according to the league office yesterday. Battle is a communications major with a 3.46 GPA. His 19 points and four rebounds against Eastern Michigan last week helped the Bulls break into the win column in MAC play.

W. Basketball

Buffalo's game against Ohio Tuesday night was postponed due to bad weather in the Athens, Ohio, area and travel concerns for the visiting Bulls.

The game will be played tonight at 7 p.m. as part of a double-header at the Convocation Center.

M. Tennis

UB turned in a gutsy performance against Ivy League champion Brown last Saturday, falling to the Bears 6-1 in Providence, R.I. The loss evens UB's record at 5-5 for the 2002-03 season.

The lone UB victory was recorded by sophomore Randy Rocchio. Rocchio dropped the opening set, 6-4. He then tied the match with a 7-6 win in the second set, taking the tiebreaker by a 12-10 count. Rocchio closed out the match with another 7-6 victory in the third set with a 7-5 tiebreaker.

ESPN Bracket Buster

Four MAC schools will be represented in the Inaugural Bracket Buster Event on Saturday. ESPN will be nationally televising five games, and ESPN Plus/Full Court will televise the remaining four.

MAC members Kent State, Ball State, Marshall and Bowling Green were chosen to participate this season. See Friday's paper for more information.

Club Ice Hockey

The fourth-seeded UB Thundering Herd is playing Thursday night against fifth-seeded John Carroll at 7 p.m. Top seed Washington and Jefferson awaits the winner on Friday at 7 p.m. The championship is on Saturday at 7 p.m. All games are played at the Genesee Valley Rink in Rochester.
