Since The Spectrum’s founding in 1950 as UB’s independent student news publication, thousands of students have come and gone. But a few things remain the same: there are still student journalists who dedicate themselves to reporting on this campus, and there are still community members who read The Spectrum and recognize the important role it plays.
For both of those things, we are grateful.
To our graduating seniors: it is with sadness and pride that we send 10 graduates out of our windowless office and into the world. Some of us are going on to become professional journalists, and some of us aren’t, but we will all do great things and be great people. We will miss seeing you all around campus, but we can’t wait to see what you do next.
To our audience: thank you for reading The Spectrum every week. Thank you for embracing our transition from print to fully digital: we hope the new email newsletter allowed us to inform you better than ever. Thank you for engaging on social media. And thank you for the value you place on journalism. The stories that we publish have an impact on this campus, and that is only possible because of support from our readers.
