UB running back Jaret Patterson takes one to the end zone last season as the Bulls defeated Robert Morris 38-10.

Following their performances against Bowling Green, the Mid-American Conference awarded twin brothers Jaret and James Patterson with East Division Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 23.

This is the first time in MAC history brothers have been honored in the same week.

Jaret was recognized as the MAC East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the honor with quarterback Dustin Crum of Kent State. The junior running back rushed for a school record 301 yards and also recorded four touchdowns in Buffalo’s 42-17 victory at Bowling Green. Patterson carried the ball 31 times, averaging 9.7 yards per carry.

On the defensive side of the ball, James Patterson recorded a career-high 13 tackles in the blowout win against the Falcons. On the night, James had a game-high, eight solo tackles. The Bulls’ middle linebacker also helped in coverage, recording a pass breakup. Patterson led the Bulls’ defensive effort, holding Bowling Green to just three points until the fourth quarter.

This is the fifth time Jaret has been named MAC Offensive Player of the Week and the second time this season. He also earned the award following the Bulls’ 49-30 victory over Northern Illinois Nov. 4. This is the first time James has earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the third consecutive week a Bulls player has been named MAC Offensive Player of the Week, with quarterback Kyle Vantrease earning the award last week following the Bulls’ 42-10 victory over Miami (OH).

Averaging 170.3 yards per game, Jaret leads the nation in rushing. His eight rushing touchdowns are also a conference-best. James leads the team with 17 tackles.

The Bulls will host Kent State at UB Stadium Saturday afternoon.
