University Police is searching for an individual that approached two female students and made “inappropriate comments” early Tuesday morning.
The police report of the incident states that the two students were studying in O’Brien Hall around 1 a.m. Tuesday when the individual approached them and made inappropriate comments, like inviting them to have sex with him. The individual followed the two students to Knox Hall, where the students were able to lose him.
The individual is described as a tall black male in his mid 20’s with short hair and a black zipper hoodie and black pants.
On Wednesday, UPD posted an alert to its Facebook page about its search, which included a photo of the individual captured from security footage.
According to UB spokesperson John Della Contrada, the Facebook posting was a request for assistance in identifying the individual. He said if it were a timely warning, then UPD would have issued a UB Alert to the university community.
“It was not a warning. This was not a situation that required a timely warning, under the Clery Act. UB Police do not have any evidence that this person is dangerous, but his actions are concerning so [the UPD] are trying to identify him,” Della Contrada said in a statement to The Spectrum.
