Following last week’s win against Northern Illinois (6-4-3, 0-3-2 MAC), the UB Bulls (8-1-3, 3-1-1 MAC) tied with the Ball State Cardinals (6-3-2, 1-1-2 MAC) in Sunday afternoon’s game at Briner Sports Field in Muncie, Indiana, with a final score of 0-0.

The Bulls began the first half playing strong offensively. They had nine shots against the Cardinals, three of which were on target but saved. The Cardinals, on the other hand, had five shots, all of which were saved by Bulls sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Thompson, who earned her eighth shutout of the season with the result. While leading in shots, the Bulls were also leading in fouls, with three to the Cardinals’ one. Neither side broke the stalemate after the first 45 minutes of play.

The Bulls kicked off the second half and continued their offensive momentum. They led in shots again, ten to the Cardinals' six. UB struggled to keep their on-field composure, giving up eight fouls in the half, plus a yellow card on senior forward Jasmine Gueber in the 82nd minute.

Despite the match having a lot of offensive action, with Buffalo’s 19 total shots versus Ball State’s 11, the game stayed scoreless until the final whistle.

The women’s soccer team will take on Mid-American Conference opponent Toledo (7-9-2, 4-6-1 MAC) next on Oct. 10, at UB Stadium at 6 p.m. The game is themed for Hilinski’s Hope Student-Athlete Mental Health Week.
