What's the Fit? - 2024 Music is Art Festival
Oct. 7The 2024 Music is Art Festival was a free admission massive arts jamboree right here in Buffalo, New York. If you weren’t in attendance, you missed out on the frisson-walking from stage to stage and enamoring yourself with crafted unique sounds that local artists produced. The walkway was supplemented with vivid art pieces, handmade garments and an interactive music station set up by the Buffalo-based band “Sonic Wranglers.” Notably, the most striking element of this festival was the outfit choices of the attendees. We got to know the attendees' fits, but more importantly, we found deeper meaning for why the fits were chosen. When asked about their extravagant apparel many festival goers gave ode to their music preference, their yearning for liberation, cultural backgrounds, and even sexual expression. Some even noted that they would not have felt comfortable dressing as they did elsewhere. Fashion in any sense is an external articulation of self. Whether it’s school or work many of us have to mute our individuality and conform to uniform. Music is Art fostered an unfettering territory for thousands of revelers to broadcast themselves employing style.
