Softball lost two games this past weekend to the Central Michigan Chippewas.

Softball (5-22, 2-6 MAC) hosted the Central Michigan Chippewas (13-15, 5-2 MAC) in what was supposed to be a three game weekend, starting with a matchup on Friday at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday. The second game on Saturday afternoon was cancelled due to weather. Of the two games that were played, the Bulls were unable to secure a win, losing 2-8 and 0-9 (five innings), respectively.

Friday’s matchup produced no points until the Chippewas put up two at the top of the third inning. The Bulls responded by putting two up themselves in the bottom of the third. The fourth and fifth innings were quiet, with neither team scoring any runs. The Chippewas then took the lead, scoring five runs in the sixth inning and one run in the seventh, tallying a final score of 2-8.

Saturday’s match proved to be another struggle for the Bulls. Central Michigan put their first points on the board with a home run in the first inning. The Bulls were unable to respond, allowing the Chippewas to continue their lead. They went on to score eight more runs throughout the game, with the Bulls not able to answer. The game closed 0-9 after five innings.

Softball will host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Tuesday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
