Lacrosse closes season with doubleheader loss

UB’s Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (1-10, 1-10 CLC) concluded their season with a doubleheader this weekend in Syracuse against the Western Michigan Broncos (8-4 UMLC) and the Michigan State Spartans (7-6 UMLC), but were unable to bring home a win in either game.

On Saturday, they began by facing the Broncos. Michigan took the lead early, putting up three goals in the first quarter to Buffalo’s one. Buffalo came back strong in the second quarter, netting three goals to the Broncos’ two, narrowing the deficit to 5-4.

Continuing to battle, the Bulls scored three more goals in the third quarter, tying the game at seven while Michigan only managed two. The fourth quarter was neck and neck, with both teams scoring three, bringing the score to 10-10 and sending the game into overtime. Unfortunately, Buffalo was outpaced in overtime, with Michigan scoring the winning goal to close out  the game at 11-10.

The following day, Buffalo was back in action to take on Michigan State in their final  game of the season. The Bulls  fell behind early, netting just  two goals while  the Spartans managed three. Buffalo was able to keep their deficit at one, with both teams scoring twice in the second quarter. Michigan State took control of the game in the third quarter, extending their lead to 8-4. Unable to gain momentum in the final quarter, Buffalo was defeated as the Spartans kept control for the remainder of the game, securinga 12-5 win. 

The result gave Buffalo their tenth loss and ended the season.
