UB’s Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) lacrosse team (0-3, 0-3 CLC) hosted their first home match of the season on Saturday, falling short to Syracuse by a score of 10-7.

The UB MCLA debuted on Feb. 22 in Boston, taking on the Boston College Eagles (3-1, 2-0 CLC). The Eagles wasted no time, scoring five goals in the first quarter, while Buffalo managed to score only one. In the second quarter, the Bulls put up two goals, but Boston responded with four more. Quarter three was a tight battle, holding both teams to only two goals each. The game closed out 5-16, with Boston adding five more goals and Buffalo holding to none.

The following day, Buffalo faced off against the Northeastern University Huskies (6-0, 1-0 CLC). The Bulls fell behind early, and by halftime they had only managed to secure two goals, while the Huskies netted eight. Despite a strong effort in the second half, UB was only able to score two more goals, while Northeastern added 10 more to secure the win at 3-18.

Buffalo hosted Syracuse on Saturday, Mar. 1, for their first home match of the season. Syracuse led at the end of the first quarter with two goals, but Buffalo was only trailing by one. After a strong defensive performance, the Bulls held Syracuse to two goals and were able to tie the game at halftime with a three goal offensive performance. In the third, Syracuse took the lead once more with three goals, while UB only added two.

Buffalo couldn’t catch up in the final quarter, with only one goal to Syracuse’s three, finalling 7-10.

The Bulls are back in action on March 7th in West Virginia to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers (2-4, 0-1 ALC) at 8 p.m.
