Nineteen candidates are in the race for five positions on the undergraduate Student Association (SA)’s e-board for the 2025-26 academic year. Except for three candidates, all will run under a party banner.
SA President Samin Bhuya, Vice President Killian Hannigan and Treasurer Louis Poon will graduate this year, leaving the roles open for an entirely new e-board.
The 2025-26 election marks the first time candidates can run for a total of three vice president positions: vice president for advocacy, vice president for clubs and vice president for events.
To run, candidates had to collect at least 100 signatures from undergraduate students.
SA Senate Chair Gavin Krauciunas is leading “The Stampede” party for the second time. Under Krauciunas, SA Senator Benjamin Lau, William Dong and Mason Bayer are running for vice president for events, vice president for clubs and vice president for advocacy respectively. Both Lau and Dong ran for the SA e-board last year under the “UBelieve” party.
SA Senator Jack Koscinski is the party’s candidate for treasurer.
SA Assistant Director of Environmental Initiatives Laron Fomby heads the “Victory” party. Alongside Fomby are SA Assistant Director of Advocacy Jack Walsh — also a former UB Council student representative candidate — for vice president for advocacy and Gavin Malec for vice president for events. SA Senators Veronica Faltisco and Aidan Sumrall are on the ticket for vice president for clubs and treasurer respectively.
Aisha Bechir and Aisha Makama are on the ballot again under the “REAL” party, with Bechir re-running for SA president and Makama running for vice president for clubs. Newcomers Pranavan Balachandran and Na’Dia Carter will be joining the two for vice president for events and vice president for advocacy respectively.
The party currently does not have a treasurer on the ticket.
Gabby Nowak and Mya Glynn are both gunning for vice president positions under the “Baddie Bulls” ticket. Nowak is on the ballot for vice president for clubs, while Glynn is for vice president for events.
Aidan Kaleta is running as an independent candidate for vice president for clubs.
Also an independent candidate, Joshua Brodsky is competing for vice president for advocacy.
Benjamin Finch is on a solo ticket for treasurer.
Funded by the $109 mandatory student activity fee — subject to student approval by referendum every other year — the SA serves as the undergraduate student government that oversees and funds most student clubs, hosts events and acts as a voice for the student body.
SA e-board members receive annual stipends of $19,500.
All undergraduate students will be able to vote on UBLinked from March 10 at 9 a.m. to March 14 at 4 p.m.
The Spectrum will be conducting Q&As with the candidates.
