Women’s tennis (7-0, 0-0 MAC) extended their spring season winning streak Saturday at Miller Tennis Center with a doubleheader against Niagara University (1-5, 0-0 MAAC) and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) (1-1, 0-0 PSAC). They won 6-1 against Niagara University and 7-0 against IUP.
During the first matchup against Niagara, freshman Maria Glowacka and senior Esmee Andresen won 6-2 at first doubles. This was followed by freshman Blanca Berges and freshman Liv Roestel also winning 6-2 at third doubles.
The singles matches started with Andresen winning 6-0 and 6-3. Graduate student Jagmeet Kaur lost in a very close match, while Glowacka won 6-1 and then 6-0. Fourth singles was won by sophomore Julia Laspro, 6-4 and 6-1. Roestel triumphed with a score of 6-3 and 6-2. Finally, Berges won 6-0 in both games.
Later that night, the Bulls faced IUP. Similarly to the morning, Glowacka and Andresen won 6-3 and on third doubles Berges and Roestel won 6-1.
The Bulls went on to win every single match against IUP. Key performances include Andresen going 6-2 and 6-3 and Glowacka winning 6-2 and 6-3 again in singles to lead to the team’s success. Laspro went 6-2 and 6-1, another stellar job well done. Doubles partners Berges and Roestel also helped the team rack up points against IUP in their respective singles matchups. Sixth singles ended with junior Deanna Choo who finished our singles winning spree with a 6-4 and 7-5 win.
The next match for the Bulls, who hope to remain undefeated, will be against Youngstown State (3-2, 0-0 HL) on Feb. 7 at 3 p.m.
