We all know that there’s no better way to show someone you care than spending quality time with them, and whether it’s something complex, like a meticulously planned evening, or something as simple as a home cooked meal, there’s no better time to show how much you care than Valentine’s day.

Whether it’s a romantic interest, or just a good friend, any evening plan can become so much better by watching a good movie. A simple plan can become much more complicated when deciding which movies to watch, especially in the modern day. At times you’ll spend more of the night trying to find a movie than watching one. There are a few movies that stand out for an evening with someone you love.

Whether it’s action, comedy, or a classic romance, here are some of the best movies to watch this Valentine’s day.

Life Is Beautiful

Considered one of the best romance movies of all time, this movie is about a Jewish man protecting his son from the dangers of a concentration camp during the Holocaust. It is an incredible mix of depressing, yet hopeful. A guaranteed tearjerker, this movie proves that even in the darkest of times, the power of love and family can shine through.

Deadpool

Deadpool is a comedy-action movie about a loud mouthed mercenary, his lost love and a whole bunch of fighting. Behind all its blood and gore, it’s a story about love, the more you watch, the more the themes of love and redemption shine. A great movie to watch with anyone, except kids, since this movie isn't for the faint of heart, or the clean of mouth.

Wall-E

A childhood classic for many, this work of art from Pixar & Disney is a fun movie great for all ages. For those not aware, Wall-E centers around 2 robots who meet under unlikely circumstances and go on an adventure through space to save the Earth. While not as ‘adult’ as the first 2 movies on this list, it’s a truly fantastic movie about love, consumerism, and the dangers of not taking care of the planet we live on. This is a movie that shouldn't be passed up on, even if you’ve watched it before.

50 First Dates

As said by Michael Sullivan, a critic for the Washington Post, “A chick flick for guys, with a pH balance in perfect equilibrium between the crass and the sweet.” 50 First Dates is an example of a ‘so bad it's good’ movie. Henry, played by Adam Sandler, attempts to get with a girl who has amnesia so bad, she can’t remember what happened the day before. While the plot may seem creepy and strange—because it is—as with all Adam Sandler movies before the year 2010, but the movie is quite funny. It’s a movie that, despite its flaws, is something that can make some lasting memories.
