Adam Berete was arrested for last Sunday night’s Creekside apartment burglary, University Police (UPD) told residents in an email Tuesday afternoon. Police report that the 21-year-old Buffalo resident also broke into a vehicle in that area around that time.
This arrest comes amidst a spike in on-campus incidents, where an armed robbery near Creekside Village occurred approximately four weeks earlier, on Oct. 3, and a string of nine catalytic converter thefts on UB’s North Campus early September.
The suspect will be arraigned in Amherst Town Court.
In an email to The Spectrum, UPD Deputy Chief for Investigations Carl Lundin said that patrols will remain increased.
“It is our hope that increased visibility, combined with a quick arrest, will deter future attempts of criminal activity in that area,” Lundin said.
Students can report suspicious activity to UPD at 716-645-2222.
Correction: An earlier version of this article included an incorrect telephone number for UPD. We regret this error.
