Spectrum recommends: UB FALLin’ in love

How to impress that special person this fall to ensure the other half to your matching Halloween costume

Here we go again: settling into new classes means that semester-start rush of excitement is fading fast into homework stress, pumpkin chai lattes and colder weather. With all there is to do, how can anyone find time for that special someone?

To help you out, The Spectrum staff have gathered a list of dates that will make your fall fling become your Halloween boo — without the ghosting.

Elmwood Village Farmers Market

Every Saturday until November, Elmwood Village hosts a producer-only Farmers Market. This ensures fresh food and a fresh spot to take your significant other. The offerings have something for everyone from distilleries to food to live music. The star of the show is to make your own bouquet stand where you can send your boo home with something to remember you by.

Pie and Gilmore Girls

One staple of the fall season is pie. Specifically pumpkin and apple pie. Grab all your pie ingredients and make a pie at home! You could even go apple picking and then use your apples to make your pie. The last, essential step is to grab some blankets and a plate of pie and cozy up to watch an episode of Gilmore Girls.

Britesmith Brewery

Britesmith has outdoor seating where you can go and wear your cute flannel and impress your date. If you are 21, they have super good fall cocktails and beers. If you aren’t 21, they have great food and a wide variety of options. Britesmith is located on Main Street in Williamsville, 15 minutes away from campus.

Letchworth State Park

Letchworth is a nice little get away for you and your special someone. Especially in the fall season, it is a beautiful spot to enjoy a hike or a picnic, and get that natural feel of the Adirondacks, without the five-hour drive. While the leaves change to oranges and reds, make your way to the “Grand Canyon of the East,” just about an hour away from Buffalo.

The Great Pumpkin Farm

The Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence is perfect for you and your date to engage in all kinds of festive fall activities, ranging from corn mazes and hayrides to fresh apple cider and the Pumpkin Palace Bakery. If you’re over 21, you can drop by the Witches Brew Bars for a Halloween-themed drink. If you’re willing to make the 20 minute drive, there’s no shortage of cute fall activities to indulge in.

Enjoy the weather

Since fall doesn’t officially start until Sept. 22, soak up the last bits of summer sun with a beach-inspired picnic, a trip to the zoo or a visit to the botanical gardens. Even if the sun isn’t your thing, end the summer strong by touring a museum or going to a local ice cream parlor and trying all the flavors. Buffalo offers so much — take advantage of it!
