UB men’s basketball head coach George Halcovage III is revamping his coaching staff ahead of his second season with the Bulls. The team announced the hiring of Kevin Voigt as the director of basketball operations and assistant coach.
Voigt served as a graduate assistant at Villanova. During his undergraduate career, he joined the team in 2020 after serving as a practice player. He appeared in seven games for the Wildcats in 2021-22 during their run to the Final Four
"He is a bright young coach with a tireless work ethic that will assimilate into our staff and culture seamlessly,” Halcovage said of Voigt in a press release. “We are fired up to welcome Kevin to Buffalo!"
Halcovage coached at Villanova for 15 years until he was hired by UB in 2023.
The Bulls also announced that assistant coach and former UB player Calvin Cage was leaving the team for a job at Hampton University. Cage was a member of Halcovage’s inaugural coaching staff.
"I will be forever grateful that Calvin was on my first staff here at UB,” Halcovage said in the press release. “Calvin is a great former UB player who has accomplished everything we want our players to be in both their basketball career and in life after basketball.”
To correspond with these moves, UB also announced that Tim Saunders and Jack Fitzpatrick will be “elevated in their roles” in the coaching staff.
