Women’s basketball announced the addition of four new players on Thursday.
Like almost every other team in the country, UB went to the portal to fill out its roster — the Bulls only had five players on their roster prior to Thursday — and signed four players..
The first addition is Ida Jonsson-Ojala, a junior forward from Capilano University. Ojala joins the team after having her best statistical season from the field a year ago, making 55.6% of her shots. At 6’2”, Ojala’s size will prove to be much-needed for a Bulls team that lacked an interior presence in 2022-23.
Ojala also brings international experience to UB, having played 22 games for her home country of Sweden over a four-year period.
Chanteese Craig, a junior forward from Wabash Valley College, brings experience to the Bulls, having started 31 of 33 games last season.
Craig was one of the best shooters in the country at the junior college level a year ago, finishing the season with a 61.7% average from the field, good for seventh in the country. Like Ojala, Craig’s 6’2” frame is a needed addition to the team.
The third transfer to be added to the team is Rana Elhusseini, a senior guard from Edinboro University. She earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Freshman of the year at Edinboro and followed that up with back-to-back First Team All-PSAC West selections.
Elhusseini finished the season with a career-best 6.1 rebounds per-game.
The final addition to the Bulls roster comes in the form of Katie Burton, a junior wing from St. John’s. Burton did not receive much playing time with the Red Storm, but shot 53.3% from the floor during her first year with the team.
