As NFL free agency ramps up this week, the Buffalo Bills have made it a priority to keep some of their homegrown players.
Former UB cornerback, Cam Lewis, was one of the players the Bills agreed to re-sign on Monday, agreeing to a one-year deal to stay with Buffalo.
Lewis signed with the Bills in 2019 as an undrafted free agent and has bounced back and forth between the practice squad and active roster the past few seasons.
Lewis was a starting cornerback for the Bulls from 2015-18 and recorded five interceptions, 27 passes defended, three forced fumbles and 155 total tackles in his 44 career games with UB.
His signature game with the Bulls came in a nationally televised September 2018 game against Temple, where he had two interceptions.
A native of Detroit, Lewis is listed at 5-9, 183 lbs. Lewis has primarily been a special teams player with the Bills, recording 11 special teams tackles during the 2022 season, which tied for first on the team. He also started one game on defense against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Bills experimented with Lewis as a safety this past season, but he’s currently listed on the team depth chart as a cornerback.
