Women's soccer defeats Rider, 2-0, Sunday at UB Stadium.

Women’s soccer (5-1-0) picked up its third straight win in a 2-0 shutout over Colgate Sunday at UB Stadium.

Senior defender Tess Ford headed in the first goal of the game on a pass from junior defender Emily Lazenby. UB added to its lead soon after when freshman midfield Katie Krohn found midfielder Leah Wengender in the open field, who fired a shot into the bottom left corner to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead in the first half.

Colgate had multiple solid chances at net in the first half but senior goalkeeper Emily Kelly and the UB defense were able to fend off the Raiders’ attacks to maintain the clean sheet.

Krohn and freshman midfielder Emma Foster kept the pressure on in the second half but weren’t able to add to the Bulls’ lead. Defensively, UB allowed just one shot attempt in the second half to close out the victory.

UB outshot the Raiders, 13-5, and also had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.

The Bulls return to action when they host Yale on Sunday at 1 p.m.
