Fullback/tight end Jake Molinich, originally a walk-on to the UB football team, has received an invitation to New York Giants mini camp this summer. NFL mini camps are invitation-only tryouts to see which players make the team’s roster at the end of the summer.

The Pittsford, NY native was an essential part of UB’s offense as a blocking tight end. Standing at 6-1, 247 lb., Molinich earned an Academic All-Mid American Conference nod this season. The redshirt fifth-year had 60 receiving yards and two rushing touchdowns in 12 games.

Molinich ran a 4.97 40-yard dash and did 26 225 lb. bench reps at UB’s Pro Day in March.

“It’s been a pretty cool experience, just seeing you can go to the next level and that my work has gotten me a look,” Molinich said at UB’s Pro Day. “I think the last six years have been a lot of preparation for this kind of moment and it’s an exciting journey.”
