Georgia Woolley’s career-high 30-point performance powered UB (13-7, 7-3 MAC) to a 69-62 victory over Eastern Michigan (5-12, 2-8 MAC) Wednesday afternoon at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, MI.
Woolley’s electric performance helped the Bulls win their second consecutive game, and came on the heels of three straight MAC losses at the end of January.
Woolley continues to be one of the hottest first-year players in the MAC. The Brisbane, Australia native shot 10-of-18 from the field and 5-of-9 from three-point range in UB’s seven-point victory Wednesday afternoon.
But Woolley wasn’t the only novice setting career-highs. Freshman forward Saniaa Wilson was dominant on the glass, snatching a game and career-high 14 rebounds.
Standout junior guard Dyaisha Fair dropped 24 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds in the winning effort. Woolley played aggressively to muster four steals and six rebounds.
UB’s defense walked in and stomped on the Eagles’ offense, holding them to 22.2% shooting in the first two quarters.
Eastern Michigan’s top three scorers — redshirt senior guard Areanna Combs (24 points), freshman guard ZaNiya Nelson (11 points) and redshirt sophomore forward Ce’Nara Skanes (nine points) — shot a combined 17-of-51 from the field.
The Bulls finished the game with 34 points in the paint and a 42.1% shooting average from the field. UB managed 17 fast break points and 12 second chance points from 11 offensive rebounds.
UB will travel to Mount Pleasant, MI on Saturday to face the Central Michigan Chippewas at McGuirk Arena. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
