Men’s basketball (11-8, 5-4 MAC) defeated the Central Michigan Chippewas (5-14, 4-4), 74-54, Saturday afternoon at McGuirk Arena in Mt. Pleasant, MI.
The win saw the Bulls snap a two-game losing streak following back-to-back double-digit losses to MAC leaders Toledo and Ohio.
Senior forward Jeenathan Williams shot 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range to lead the Bulls with 19 points. Senior guard Ronaldo Segu and graduate forward Tra’von Fagan each scored 11 points, while senior guard Maceo Jack barely missed out on the first double-double of his career with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Jack’s impressive performance was highlighted by a thunderous one-handed slam in the second half that received national attention on social media.
Defensively, UB limited CMU to just 33.9% from the field and 23.8% from three-point range. The Bulls landed 49 rebounds, matching a previous season-high from a December loss against Miami (OH).
The win marked the 12th consecutive time UB has defeated CMU.
The Bulls will return to action against the Eastern Michigan Eagles (8-14, 3-8) for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Alumni Arena this Tuesday.
