UB has updated its vaccination policy to reflect that children ages 5-11 are now required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination in order to attend sporting events at Alumni Arena.
With the two-dose vaccine created by Pfizer being authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for emergency use for ages 5-11, UB has extended the mandate to this age group. Previously, the policy had been in place for ages 12 and older.
The extended mandate will take effect Jan. 1, meaning children in that age bracket will need to have received at least the first dose to attend any home games, including men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling and swimming and diving by New Year’s Day.
Spectators should be ready to provide proof of their vaccination status as well as photo ID upon arrival. UB will accept the Excelsior Pass, a digital vaccine card, a photo or a physical copy of the vaccine card. Masks are still required at all times inside the arena.
Beginning Feb. 1, all attendees must provide proof of full vaccination.
UB is maneuvering through the challenges of the omicron variant with a number of approaches. Other steps include wearing masks indoors, COVID testing and mandating the vaccine for students.
