Black Friday Night Lights

The Bulls football team (7-5, 5-3 MAC) took to the field Friday in their 49-7 win against Bowling Green (3-9, 2-6). Prior to the match-up, Buffalo became bowl eligible and was looking to solidify its chances of being selected.

Sophomore running back Jaret Patterson showed out once again, rushing for a school record 298 yards and 6 touchdowns — a Mid-American conference record.

Sophomore running back Kevin Marks added Buffalo’s other touchdown for the night and finished with 107 yards. This puts him over the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season.

Following the win, it was announced that the Bulls were selected to play in a bowl game, which will take place in the Bahamas later this month.

The Hawk Classic

Women’s basketball (6-2) earned two more wins last weekend in the Saint Joseph’s tournament.

On Saturday, the Bulls picked up their first win of the weekend 63-59 in a close game against Drexel. Freshman Dyaisha Fair led the team in scoring with a solid 26 points. She added 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals for the night.

On Sunday, Buffalo took on American University in a 73-55 win. Senior Theresa Onwuka led in scoring with 18 points.

Onwuka also earned MAC East Co-Player of the Week for her performance throughout the weekend. This is the second weekly honor the Bulls have received as a team this season.

UB will take on St. Bonaventure next on Dec. 7.

Fouling in Nashville

Men’s basketball (5-3) struggled on the road in its 90-76 loss against Vanderbilt.

After starting off with 10-1 advantage, the first half was brutal for Buffalo as it received one foul call after another. By the end of the night, UB accumulated 20 total personal fouls with four key players having three or more each.

Senior Antwain Johnson led the Bulls in points with 16. Johnson also added 7 rebounds.

UB will be back on the court against DePaul on Dec. 8.
